Implement seven steps to a healthy sex life

A healthy sex life is an important part of a healthy lifestyle. However, many times when you feel too tired or stressed, it can be difficult to maintain a good sexual relationship. There are many factors that contribute to low sexual desire including obesity, poor diet and stress. I was intrigued by a recent article reported on msn.com that suggested seven important steps for men to have a healthier sex life. Here is a brief summary:

Lose the weight
Testosterone is the male sexual hormone which is normally broken down in the body’s fat cells.  Abdominal fat breaks down testosterone extra quickly and leads to testosterone deficiency. Low level of this hormone can reduce your ability to have satisfying sex. By decreasing the size of your belly, you can increase the amount of testosterone and thereby boost your sex life.

Do More Squats
Doing regular exercise, especially concentrated below the waist can increase the blood flow in your pelvic region. Mark gives excellent squats techniques in his recent post proper-squat-technique.

Eat More Walnuts or Almonds
Eating nuts and other foods such as beans, cold-water fish (tuna, salmon), soy products, and oats that are rich in amino acid called arginine, can promote a process called nitric-oxide release, which relaxes blood vessels and increases the blood flow.

Lower Your Cholesterol
High cholesterol is the risk factor for various diseases. By lowering...



the cholesterol level, you can not only ward off many diseases, but it will facilitate blood flow and increase your sex drive.

Pay Attention
Do you have burning sensation when you urinate? Are you seeing blood? Or is there another discomfort when you adjust yourself? If so, and the problem persists for a long time, you should see a doctor.

Do a Self-Exam Every Six Months
Feel around your testicles for hardness and discomfort, and if you sense anything that feels like a knuckle, see your doctor.

Get a Physical Once a Year
Having a physical once a year is necessary to have healthy life.  Ask your doctor about your blood pressure, cholesterol, and testosterone levels. If you’re having problems with any of those things, it can eventually influence your sex life.

Many times it happens that we become so busy in our social and professional life that we forget to invest time on our health that eventually leads to many health conditions like libido.  Healthy sexual life energizes the partners and keeps them healthy.

  1. As a Corrective Exercise Specialist who trains men over 40, I use this information a lot. Keeping your weight and cholesterol down, plus, exercising and eating healthy all effects your sex life. I am hoping that this will be a motivator for a lot of men to put their health as a priority.
