Kellogg recalls cereal boxes due to unusual flavor and smell

Kellogg is a household name in the world of cereals.  I think Kellogg’s Frosties is one the most famous cereal brand.  Kellogg hit the news stand this Friday afternoon, but not because of release of new cereal.  On contrary, Kellogg has recalled 28 million boxes of several popular cereals due to unusual flavor and smell.

What cereal products are included in Kellogg recall?
Recall includes boxes of brands Corn Pops, Honey Smacks, Froot Loops and Apple Jacks.

Is there health risk by consumption of these recalled cereals?
Kellogg said that risk for serious health problem is low, but an “uncharacteristic off-flavor and smell coming from the liner in the package” could cause temporary symptoms including nausea and diarrhea.

How do I identify the Kellogg’s recalled cereal box?
Only boxes with the letters “KN” following the “better if used before” date are included in the recall. Products with “KM” are not being recalled, nor are any products in Canada.

Kellogg has created a webpage to address the...

questions from questions from consumers:

Kellogg’s CEO David Mackay apologized to consumers and said that company is “working diligently to ensure that the affected products are rapidly removed from the marketplace.”

Consumers who have questions or want a replacement box of cereal can call Kellogg at 888-801-4163

Kellogg is very common household brand and if you among the ones using the recalled product, do not forget to look at the box to check if it is in recalled category.  Be safe than sorry.
